Tate Modern Current Exhibitions Miró

I went to this exhibition because Denise told that there were some burning work in it. I am now make books about cigarettes burning, so I went this exhibition to do some research. It is a nice exhibition. The works are very good. Follow the rooms, I felt that I was looking the progress of Joan Miro's life. From the first room to the final room, I found that he shaped his own style of painting gradually. He has his own painting language. I think all of us should have our own features which are like our own identities.

His 'Burnt Canvas' are the works I want to see. Maybe it is because the background of that time, he burnt some canvas to express his anger. Burning is like destroying. My work about cigarettes burning has something with destroy too. Finally, this exhibition is amazing. I love it.

Artsmart in Chelsea

This event is interesting. It seems that every year it will happen. Now I attended this year. It is a great 'show'. There was market where some designers sold their works. Also, there were talks and recruitment fair, which were both nice. I attended the 'Visual Communication' and 'Blurb'. Here are some pictures.

This talk 'Visual Communication' was about finding jobs. How to prepare to find a job. Different ways to promote yourself. It was useful for us, because we are going to graduate. The other talk 'Blurb' was also nice. The speaker introduced the art of self-publishing for self-promotion. She introduced some books to us, they are beautiful. I think this event is great for the students who are going to work in the society.

Exhibitions in Tate Modern

Today I went to Tate Modern to watch some exhibitons. There are some new exhibitons, which I feel happy. After these exhibitons, I had deep impression on several works. I spent much time in watching Taryn Simon's A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters. She used photos to express what was dead. 'Dead' here is not saying people die in a natural way. War leads more people die in some countries. Simon took photographs of people who had bloodlines with each other and arranged them in order. You can see there is descent traced through photos. However, who knows will they have next generation.

It seems that we have a peace world now, but not all of countries in the world are peace. There are strong countries and weak countries. They are not balance actually, so there are still wars in this world. This situation can not be changed by normal people, but we can present this to the world and let more people know this.

Besides, a Korean Artist called Do Ho Suh made a work to express 'space' is interesting. He said 'The  space I am interested in is not only a physical one, but an intangible, metaphorical, and psychological one. For me, 'space' is that which encompasses everything.'

GABRIEL OROZCO in Tate Mordern

A creative artist shared his works with us. This show was very interesting. The designer use different kinds of skills to express his idea. Watching his works, you will feel happy. The photos he took are very nice and the photos can make you think something maybe you have not thought before.

Actually, I think I am a student of Visual Arts Graphic Design in Camberwell College of Arts, and I want to express my concepts in different ways just like this artist. We are studying visual arts, we should learn more about how to use visual language to express ideas. 

Works in this show are very creative and I like them.

Wim Crouwel Show in Design museum

I heard of this show from my friend. She said this show was very good and it was all about graphic design. So I decided to watch this show. Wim Crouwel is a famous graphic designer. His designs influenced twentieth century’s graphic design. When I went to the space of this show, I felt like I was reading a history book of graphic design. His works were very classical. And I found some design skills of his works were still used today. This show was totally graphic design. This show was good for us to understand graphic design.

Trip to Southend-on-Sea

We went to Southend on Sea today and saw the Anti-photography exhibition. It was a nice day. We had a nice trip. We enjoyed the show and took some photos to do the photograph project. Sometimes we need a trip like this to do some work and we will have more inspirations for our project. It is an interesting experience for me to study in the UK. In addition, I saw some works about photography, which make me feel good to think photography and it is good for me to think about my project, because I use camera to do my work.

The first contemporary graphic art fair in the UK!

Actually, there are many works of illustration in this show. All works have a price. It looks like a market. However, it is also a good way for designers to make people know their works and the works in this show are nice.

"Every Building on the Sunset Strip"

On 25th Jan 2011, our class went to V&A museum to attend "Introduction to the V&A Artists Book Collection". It was a nice trip.

In the "Introduction", I was interested in Edward Ruscha's "Every Building on Sunset Strip". I like its style. And it is amusing that he took some photos of the street and combined them as a book. There are two sides of the street in the book. These two sides separated on the up and down of the pages. When I discovered this, I felt I can walk on the street. It was amazing. And I want to do work of my project like this style.
